Self-made homebody

I can't pinpoint exactly when I became a homebody. Priorities shifted at some point. I became more interested in resting and saving energy for all my tasks than in going out. I don't necessarily think this is good. I miss being interested in people and events.

It's strange because I don't miss any specific people; I literally miss the feeling of being interested in them. I don't want to blame everything on age; maybe it's just me and my process. Or maybe it has to do with the current state of the world and how we are all more connected to optimizing our lives than to simple human gathering.

At one point I was tired, and I decided to stay home more often. That decision, instead of replenishing my energy, drained me more. Now I understand that relationships and friends are what give you energy in the first place.

Optimizing to the max makes no sense when you don't have anybody to share your life with or to celebrate side by side. I was definitely having a better time when I was fatter and poorer but had all my friends next to me.

Sacrifices are fine, and we should make some. We should study, work, and go to the gym. But we can't become robots and be perfect. Imagine we get all the money, the perfect sleep schedule, and the perfect body. What are we doing with all that if we're alone? I know it sounds romantic, but I bet if you get there, you'll think like me.

I was trying to write an intro about being a homebody, and it came out like a critique. I want you to know I'm only critiquing myself. If being a homebody works for you right now, so be it. It worked for me for many years.
